“My fiancée and I had a wonderful stay the other night. The grounds are beautiful to walk, and the stars are incredibly bright at night - gorgeous to view from the many benches outside! Just a wonderful place to get away from everything, and enjoy a little bit of seclusion. Everyone here was incredibly friendly, and welcoming to us. Not to mention that the lodging itself is beautiful. I would completely recommend to anyone that they stay here.” - Kristen
Absolutely a fabulous find. So welcoming and comfortable. The community kitchen was well stocked and user friendly. I wish we would have had more time to spend on the lovely property. – Kathy Z.
We were pleasantly surprised. Very nice setting, simple clean rooms, very friendly and helpful staff, and a lovely restaurant. We were happy with our expiriance and would love to have an event here someday. – John & Marissa N.
Location is in a quiet, rural setting near enough to big towns like Cortes, but without having to put up with all the related hub-bub especially when wanting to star gaze or have a quiet rest with the windows open. Bathroom was great and the bed was very comfortable. The communal kitchen is a great addition for those wishing to cook their own meals. We selected this location because it was close to Mesa Verde and Hovenweep by about 1/2 hour. We enjoyed our stay here. – Darlene H.
We had a lovely stay at Sophia's. It's a beautiful location and Pati did a wonderful job in making us feel welcome. – Nicola S.
We were welcomed immediately by the host's son, who gave us a tour of the property and then showed us to our room. He was very friendly and told us to let him know if we needed anything. He brought us extra towels and half and half for our coffee very quickly. The area was very beautiful and close to everything. – Wendy P.
Patty was very informative once I arrived. I didn't meet "Mary" but Patty did a great job of showing us around and explaining things. The amenities were superb with bagels, eggs - a kitchen, etc. The walking path to labyrinth was cool. – Bebe B.
Sophia's is a great escape. Just outside of Dolores on the edge of the national forest. Just a mile down the road are wonderful hiking and biking trails with something for all skill levels. Our room was very comfortable with a modern bathroom and very quiet. There is a communal kitchen where they provide fixings for a continental breakfast. They also have a community room with TV and Internet access. The location is also away from city lights providing dark skies for great star gazing. – Rob H.
This place is great! A little far out from everything so plan extra time to get to places. They have a communal kitchen you can put food and lots of breakfast items already stocked. The rooms are clean and comfortable. No tub, but the showers are comfortable and have a place to sit. The wifi is spotty so be prepared to unplug and enjoy time away from the internet. They have a great bistro on friday and Saturday nights. Good food! Same for the brunch on Sunday mornings. The staff is so nice and accommodating. Pati even made me a ginger tea when I had a bad migraine! Anything you need just let them know and they'll help. If we're ever in the four corners area again we will definitely stay here again! – Jennifer L.
We had a great time staying here in a nice secluded location. We only stayed for one night, but our hosts were very welcoming and hospitable. Highly recommended – Harry T.
Nice host, perfect house, good breakfast, clean house. Recommended, absolutely will come back again – J. C.
Loved this place! Clean, comfortable and beautiful – Jessica B.
Mary welcomed us upon arrival and showed us to our room. She explained all the available amenities and even gave us a restaurant recommendation for our first night in Dolores. We absolutely loved our room and our stay at Sophia's! The Sunday brunch was also fantastic! Pati was responsive throughout our stay there. The property is quite wonderful and you are allowed to wonder around. Dolores is a charming little town very close to Cortez and Telluride – Judith P.
We were welcomed by hosts Pati and Tom and were instantly made to feel special. Pati took us throughout the facilities and made sure we were aware of all the amenities available to us. Luckily we were there on Friday night which was one of the nights the Bistro is open. We spent an enjoyable evening drinking and dining and all without having to leave the premises. We loved that. This was only the second night we spent at an Airbnb but we loved every minute of it. We will definitely keep Sophia on our list of places to revisit – Bob S.
My family and I had a great stay at Mary's place. It was a great location for visiting Mesa verde. We would definitely recommended this place! – Leah G.
I always have the BEST experience at Sophia and that is why I return time and time again!!! – Frannie H.
Our weekend night at Sophia's was spectacular. We truly enjoyed the wonderful queen bed and ceiling fan in our room. It was so quiet and peaceful which is exactly what we were looking for. Patty who greeted us could not have been nicer. Thank you for the wonderful experience! - Linda & Jerry
The room was comfortable and quiet, and the grounds are gorgeous. – Emily B.
I had a lovely stay at the bucolic cottage. It has a wonderful view, lovely patio that is quite private and a very comfortable bed. In room coffee maker is a big bonus and there is a kitchen just a few steps away. In all interactions with the staff they were kind, accommodating and flexible. I'm already planning my next stay here! – Jason M.
Where do I begin? Sophia Peace Center was just that! Pure peace and serenity! We arrived after dark and Lloyd ever-so-kindly greeted us, showed us around and to our room, which was clean, bright, comfortable and quiet! The king size bed was perfect! In the morning we walked the property with our dog Luz, who had a magnificent time charging across the meadow from the Labyrinth to the great angel statue on the other side. The staff was friendly and down-right sweet. What a lovely place! I would recommend it to anyone! – Renee & John O.
We really liked our experience and wished we had had more than one night's stay. The room was spacious and nicely adorned. The lodging was charming. Breakfast was provided and that was really convenient. We really enjoyed the grounds, too, and we're grateful to enjoy the surroundings. – Baird G.
Wonderful stay!! Pati checked in with us before we arrived, fave us directions and helpful food options. We had dinner there and the service was great as well! Absolutely amazing BnB. The grounds are beautiful, the views are breathtaking, and the service is spectacular. Not only would I stay again, I will. – Brandon B.
This isn't your typical Airbnb room in someone's house, this is a full fledged retreat that can Cater to numerous guests. But make no mistake, this by no means is any less personal! Wonderful hosts, very accommodating... Outstanding facility! – Naguib K.
We loved staying at Sophia's retreat. Beautiful property, friendly and helpful staff, easy access to Arches National Park & Telluride Colorado. 5 big stars for Pati, Lloyd and the rest of the staff! – Doug T.
Sophia's retreat is a beautiful place, very tranquil and peaceful since it is away from the town. There are great mountain views too and the star gazing is spectacular on any clear night. We enjoyed the self-service free breakfast every morning in a big spacious kitchen. The beds were comfortable and we slept like babies! Pati was a great host too! Overall, a great place and a good base to explore the area. – Rachel & Kevin W.
We were welcomed warmly in the middle of a snow storm, with such attention to detail - a path immediately swept in the snow, help with our bags, and general warm enthusiasm. The place was terrific and our bedroom spacious, with nice bedding, and great mattress. Having the use of a full kitchen (with generous provisions for a self serve breakfast) made our stay. Also super to have use of a laundry. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay -two nights was not long enough. It is a great base for exploring the area. – Elizabeth V.
